AC-1129 is a robot in Isaac Asimov's Robot series.
About AC-1129[]
AC-1129 is a Solarian robot. A highly specialized Solarian robot, AC-1129 was tasked with operating the complex controls of a trimensional viewer, the primary means of communication on the planet. It was stationed in the conversation room of the mansion used by Elijah Baley. Physically, it was nearly identical to other Solarian service robots like ACX-2745, sharing a matte gray finish and a unique checkered shoulder insignia that denoted its serial number. Its positronic brain was meticulously programmed for its single, complex task.
When Baley attempted to bypass it and operate the viewer himself, R. Daneel Olivaw intervened, explaining that forcing a Solarian robot to deviate from its precise specialization created severe positronic distress, akin to human pain, and was considered a profound social faux pas in Solarian society. AC-1129 efficiently established contact with Gladia Delmarre, demonstrating its expertise by quickly manipulating the numerous controls required for a trimensional connection. Its existence served as a prime example to Baley of Solaria's utterly roboticized economy, where every conceivable task was handled by a specialized machine, rendering the human inhabitants almost entirely dependent on them.
