The Actionist Party was a political party of the First Foundation, founded in 80 FE by opponents of the government of Salvor Hardin and its policy of appeasement and trade toward the Four Kingdoms, led by Sef Semark and Lewis Bort. The Actionists favoured aggressive domination of the region through religion and the Foundation as a kind of military superpower. Domestically, they called for a focus on the immediate needs of the people of Terminus at the expense of the machinations of the Seldon Plan and the Traders, distrusted by the party, and the removal of Hardin's government which they considered a bureaucratic clique, through "Direct Action" as per their slogan.
When the City Council voted not to impeach Hardin by 206 to 184, 59 members of the Actionist Party stormed out of the chamber, with Sermak ranting that Hardin was a traitor who was dealing with Anacreon, that the Chamber was complicit in the treason, and that he would employ direct action against this treason. However, Hardin's skilled maintanance of power and defeat of Anacreon rendered them impotent, and the Actionist leaders rolled back on their hardline stance, joining in with the vote of confidence with Hardin, making speeches in which they publicly admitted that they were wrong, apologizing for their militant polarisation, and rebranding the Actionists as a healthy democratic opposition.
Although the "new" Actionist Party still enjoyed popularity and fruition for a time, attempting to regain momentum by practicing land reform, they soon faded out and were finally destroyed by the ascension of Hober Mallow to the position of mayor in 154 FE, when they were defeated on the issues of Traders' rights, religious policy and democracy suppressed by Mallow's government.
