Ammentic the Great is a character from the expanded universe of Isaac Asimov's Second Foundation trilogy.

About Ammentic[]

Emperor Ammentic the Great reigned during the formative years of the Galactic Empire, beginning his rule circa 2000 G.E. His reign marks the earliest known period when the Galactic Empire transitioned from a rising power to an officially recognized and universally accepted governing organization across the Milky Way galaxy. As the first emperor to establish widespread galactic acceptance of imperial authority, Ammentic's leadership laid the foundational administrative and political structures that would endure for millennia.

His most enduring legacy was the construction of the Imperial Palace on Trantor around 2150 G.E. This monumental architectural achievement served as the central seat of imperial power and administration for over twelve thousand years. The Palace's design and construction symbolized the Empire's permanence and grandeur, featuring unprecedented scale and technological sophistication that became characteristic of Trantorian architecture. The Imperial Palace remained in continuous use as the official residence of Galactic Emperors and the center of imperial government until at least 195 F.E., surviving through the Empire's golden age, decline, and eventual fall, standing as a physical testament to Ammentic's vision and the Empire's longevity.
