Anemoria is a sector on the planet Trantor that plays a specific, targeted role in the Joranumite conspiracy. The sector is notable for being the area of responsibility assigned to the old-line Joranumite conspirator, Kaspal Kaspalov. As part of Gambol Deen Namarti's plan to foment widespread public discontent, Kaspalov was tasked with sabotaging the ventilation systems in Anemoria. The planned sabotage involved actions such as completely shutting down systems to increase humidity or produce a peculiar odor—calculated to cause maximum inconvenience and discomfort to the population without causing immediate, direct loss of life. This was part of a broader, planet-wide campaign of precisely timed infrastructural failures orchestrated by Namarti to destabilize the government of First Minister Hari Seldon.
Kaspalov's subsequent murder in the Wye Sector, and the discovery that he both worked in Anemoria and was a known Joranumite, provided First Minister Seldon with a critical clue. By cross-referencing the location of this anomaly with a map of recent infrastructural failures, Seldon deduced that the pattern of sabotage was deliberate and not a result of natural decay, ultimately leading him to uncover the revived Joranumite conspiracy.
