Artemisia oth Hinriad is a character from Isaac Asimov's Empire series.
About Artemisia[]
Artemisia oth Hinriad, often referred to by the diminutive Arta, was the daughter of Hinrik V, the Director of Rhodia, and a member of the ruling Hinriad Dynasty. Her position made her a pawn in the political games surrounding the Tyranni occupation of the Nebular Kingdoms.
The Autarch of Lingane, Sander Jonti, plotted to marry her to solidify his claim to leadership over the worlds opposing the Tyranni. Simultaneously, the Tyranni themselves, seeking to maintain control, pressured her to marry one of their own local officials. Refusing to be a tool for either side, Artemisia actively frustrated both plans by fleeing Rhodia.
She joined her uncle, Gillbret oth Hinriad, and Biron Farrill, the son of the executed Rancher of Widemos, in their desperate search for the mythical "Rebellion World," a rumored center of resistance against the Tyranni. Her decision to take action was crucial to the mission's success. Through these events, she and Biron Farrill fell in love. After the conspiracy was thwarted, she married him and returned to Rhodia, no longer a political pawn but having actively shaped the future of her world.
