Balle is one of the five major continental regions of the planet Sark. Governed by the oldest of the Great Squires, the continent of Balle was a center of traditionalism. Its Squire valued the long-established principle of continental autonomy above all else, a system that had persisted for centuries. His family lineage was the oldest on Sark, hearkening back to a time when his ancestors ruled the entire planet, a fact that contributed to a strong sense of prestige. Balle and its Squire represented the conservative faction that viewed Squire Fife's aggressive policies and bid for planetary control with deep suspicion and caution.
