Bellis Seldon is a character in Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.
About Bellis[]
Born on Trantor, Bellis was the second child of Raych and Manella. Her birth caused a period of emotional difficulty for her older sister, Wanda, who felt neglected as the family's attention shifted to the new baby. This sense of isolation led Wanda to seek comfort with Yugo Amaryl, an interaction that indirectly resulted in her first, instinctual manipulation of the Prime Radiant's equations—a key moment in the development of psychohistory.
Bellis's fate is tied to the political upheavals on the outer world of Santanni. After Raych moved the family there to escape a decaying Trantor, a violent rebellion broke out. Raych secured passage for Manella and the infant Bellis on the hyper-ship Arcadia VII, bound for Anacreon, while he stayed behind to protect the University. The ship fled Santanni but vanished en route and never reached its destination. While Raych's death in the subsequent bombardment of the University was confirmed by Emperor Agis XIV's intelligence sources, describes Manella and Bellis's fate as a disappearance. They are listed as presumed dead, lost with the Arcadia VII, but their ultimate fate remains officially unconfirmed. This tragedy devastated Hari Seldon and his surviving granddaughter, Wanda.
