Asimov

Daluben IV is a character in Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.

About Daluben[]

Daluben IV was an Emperor of the Galactic Empire who ruled during the early stages of Hari Seldon's development of psychohistory. Daluben IV probably reigned in the early 12,060s CE, between the end of Agis XIV's reign and the brief reign of Klayus I, a period marked by the growing decline of the Empire and the early stages of the crisis that Seldon would predict.

Trivia[]

  • Based on his mention in Foundation and Empire (1952), it is suggested that Seldon lived and developed his science during Daluben IV's reign. However, this information directly conflicts with Asimov's prequel novels written decades later (Prelude to Foundation, 1988, and Forward the Foundation, 1993), which state that Seldon's contemporary emperors were Cleon I and Agis XIV, and that Seldon's trial occurred under Klayus I. This inconsistency likely reflects retroactive adjustments to the chronology of Asimov's universe.
