Euterpe is a fictional planet in Isaac Asimov's Robot series.
About Euterpe[]
Euterpe is one.of the.fifty a Spacer planet. It is a world known for its aesthetic, tourist-oriented environment, particularly its magnificent rain forests. The flora is perfectly arranged, with trees planted in orderly rows, and the fauna has been carefully selected to be colorful and pleasing to the eye, with all venomous or otherwise unpleasant creatures eliminated. The planet is orbited by a moon named Gemstone, which is over 150 kilometers in diameter. Gemstone is unusually close to Euterpe, appearing as a brilliant, blinding light in the sky and moving rapidly from east to west. While tourists are fascinated by it initially, the native Euterpans largely ignore it.
Gladia Delmarre visited the planet with her husband, Santirix Gremionis, at least eight decades before the events of the novel. Although she found the forests splendid, her most vivid memory was a growing dissatisfaction with travel and a reinforced preference for the comfort of her home on Aurora, a sentiment common among Spacers. The trip highlighted the cultural contrast between the ornate, comfortable existence of the Spacer worlds and the stark, functional aesthetics of Settler technology.[1]
