Jirad Tisalver is a character in Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.
About Jirad[]
A proud yet conventional and somewhat timid Dahlite, Jirad Tisalver was a programmer of the local Holo-vision and resident of the Dahl Sector on the planet Trantor. He lived with his strong-willed wife, Casilia, and their teenaged daughter in a small, meticulously clean apartment. He and his family were compelled by Chetter Hummin to provide sanctuary to the mathematician Hari Seldon and his companion, Dors Venabili. Initially fascinated by his guests from the Imperial Sector, Tisalver served as their cultural guide, eagerly listening to their stories of other worlds and explaining local Dahlite customs, such as their disdain for luxury items like chairs. His most significant act was organizing a tour of the vital Dahlite heatsinks, which led directly to Seldon's fateful meeting with the brilliant heatsink worker, Yugo Amaryl. Tisalver's demeanor shifted from hospitality to apprehensive fear following Seldon and Dors' dangerous excursion to Billibotton, a trip that resulted in rumors of a massive knife-fight. This fear turned to outright panic when Sector Security agents, acting on a complaint filed by his wife, arrived at his apartment to arrest his guests. Confronted by a furious Dors Venabili and an angry mob gathering outside his door, Tisalver was ultimately overruled and forced to acquiesce as Seldon and Dors overpowered the officers and fled, leaving him to face the consequences of the disrupted arrest in his home.
