Emperor Kandar V is a character from the expanded universe of Isaac Asimov's Second Foundation trilogy.
About Kandar[]
Emperor Kandar V ruled during the ninth century of the Galactic Era, approximately around 900 G.E. His reign is historically significant for addressing the long-standing Earth problem after previous recovery efforts had been abandoned. Kandar V authorized the construction of an enormous artificial landmass on the planet Alpha, which was officially designated "New Earth." This massive engineering project represented the Empire's final solution for preserving what remained of Earth's population and culture.
The Emperor personally arranged and supervised the transportation of Earth's last surviving inhabitants to this new colony world. The relocation operation, completed around 900 G.E., involved moving the remaining Earth population to their new home on Alpha. This project stood as one of the last major humanitarian efforts of the Galactic Empire before its eventual decline. The New Earth colony established under Kandar V's directive proved remarkably successful and durable. Historical records indicate the settlement maintained continuous habitation and preserved Earth's cultural legacy for centuries, surviving until at least 498 F.E., long after the original Galactic Empire had collapsed.
