Klayus I is a character in the licensed Asimov's expanded universe of the Second Foundation Series.

About Klayus[]

Klayus I is an Emperor who reigned after Daluben IV to 12,068 G.E (Galactic Era). He ascended to the Golden Throne as a figurehead emperor while actual power resided with the Commission of Public Safety, led by his relative the shrewd Linge Chen.

His reign was characterized by attempts to break free from Chen's control during the period of the Seldon Trial -2 F.E. (Foundation Era). He engaged in extravagant parties and political intrigues while the trial served as a public distraction from deeper political machinations. Feeling constrained as a puppet, Klayus I formed a clandestine alliance with Farad Sinter, Head of the Office of Galactic Investigation. With the Emperor's support, Sinter initiated a dangerous campaign to find and eliminate "ancient robots hidden among humans," targeting individuals of high intelligence and influence.

This initiative directly threatened Chen's authority and the stability of the Commission. Klayus's alliance with Sinter was ultimately unsuccessful. After the Seldon Trial and the neutralization of the Sinter crisis, Klayus's position became untenable. iuringthis time he narrative indicates that Linge Chen emerged with absolute power, demonstrating Klayus's failed power struggle.
