About the Lower City[]
Lower City is the ground-level section of Florina's capital, existing in the shadow of the elevated Upper City.
Inhabited solely by native Florinians, the Lower City was where the actual work of the kyrt industry was performed, containing workers' housing, factories, bakeries, and disposal plants. It was characterized by darker, less-maintained conditions compared to the Upper City, with an atmosphere of crowded poverty and constant wariness under the watch of the patrollers. The area was crisscrossed by alleys and streets, and its inhabitants lived with the ever-present threat of armed patroller ground-cars descending from openings in the ceiling above. It was a place of hiding and desperate movement for the fugitives Townman Terens, Rik, and Valona March.
