Lumen is a character from Isaac Asimov's Robot series.
About Lumen[]
Lumen is one of Dr. Han Fastolfe's two daughters, each from a different mother. Unlike her sister, Vasilia, who was raised for a time by Fastolfe himself, Lumen had no such contact and Fastolfe received only occasional news about her.
As an adult, she entered the political arena of Aurora. She became a candidate for a local council position, representing the Globalist party. This political faction believes that Aurora alone should exercise leadership in the colonization of the galaxy and that other human worlds, particularly Earth, should be excluded from the process—a philosophy they term "enlightened self-interest." This stance directly opposes the Humanist party led by her father, which advocates for all human worlds to share the galaxy. Consequently, despite their familial tie, Lumen is counted among Fastolfe's political enemies.
