Mannix IV is the longtime Mayor of the Wye Sector on Trantor. The aging and legitimate ruler of Wye, Mannix IV spent his forty-year reign building Wye's security forces into the most powerful on Trantor while maintaining a facade of peace and loyalty to the Imperial throne. A man of immense patience and planning, he harbored the ancient Wye ambition of seizing the Imperial throne, a claim based on their descent from the Dacian Dynasty. In his final years, weary of the pressures of power, he formally passed his authority to his only daughter, Rashelle, charging her with executing the long-planned coup. He believed that with the promise of psychohistorical justification from Hari Seldon, the takeover could be accomplished without the inevitable galactic civil war. His plans were thwarted when Imperial forces, led by Eto Demerzel, moved first. Mannix IV was captured alive and in full possession of his faculties. Under Imperial control, he was forced to appear on the hypervision to plead with all Wye citizens to remain calm and surrender, making no mention of his daughter or her rebellion, effectively ending the coup attempt.
