The Psychohistory Research Project, commonly known as the Seldon Project, was a vast and somewhat mysterious project founded by mathematicians Hari Seldon and Yugo Amaryl on Trantor in 12,020 GE in order to develop to a usable extent the science of psychohistory. It was housed at the Streeling University.

By 12,067 GE, ninety-eight thousand, five hundred and seventy two individuals were involved in the project, including the recently joined Gaal Dornick. They were exiled to Terminus after Seldon's and Dornick's trial in front of the Commission of Public Safety the same year. It was not until 31 years later that the Foundation was established as a product of the project.
