Asimov

Sergeant Quinber is a character in Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.

About Quinber[]

Quinber is a sergeant in the Joranumite Guard on Trantor. Sergeant Quinber was a pragmatic and authoritative figure within the Joranumite organization, operating in the Billibotton Sector. He initially arrested Raych Seldon after a brawl in a bakery. Unlike the ideologue Sander Nee, Quinber was more interested in practical verification. He recognized the story of Yugo Amaryl, a fellow heat-shield worker who had been taken away by a mathematician, and this recognition gave Raych a sliver of credibility. Quinber was the one who, after initial skepticism, finally agreed to Raych's desperate plan to write down the name "Hari Seldon" and the word "psychohistory" to be passed to Laskin "Jo-Jo" Joranum himself. This action set in motion the chain of events that led to Raych's eventual meeting with the Joranumite leader.
