Roger Benastra is a character in Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.

About Rogen[]

Dr. Roger Benastra was a seismologist at Streeling University on Trantor during the early years of Hari Seldon's work on psychohistory. He served as the Chief Seismologist at Streeling University, responsible for monitoring the seismic activity of the planet's metal crust and the structural integrity of the dome covering Streeling University.

Benastra played a critical role in the events surrounding Hari Seldon's first predictive crisis. When Dors Venabili suspected Seldon might be in danger on the Upper Edge during a meteorological experiment, she sought Benastra's expertise. Despite initially resisting due to personal commitments, Benastra was persuaded by Dors' urgency to access seismic records that could detect human activity on the dome's surface.

His seismic equipment, connected to pressure transducers in the dome's structure, ultimately detected footsteps confirming Seldon's presence and deteriorating condition on the Upper Edge. This discovery forced meteorologist Jenarr Leggen to accompany Dors and Benastra on a rescue mission that saved Seldon from exposure and potential death.
