The Sacratorium is a location in Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.
Description[]
The Sacratorium is the central temple and most sacred structure of Mycogen. A large, austere building modeled on a miniature scale after the Imperial Palace grounds, the Sacratorium is the cultural and religious heart of Mycogen Sector, dedicated to the memory of the lost homeworld, Aurora. Access is strictly forbidden to all outsiders ("tribespeople") and heavily restricted for Mycogenians themselves, olnly Brothers (men) wearing an Obiah can enter; The Sisters (women) are only allowed entry on rare, specific occasions. The interior is a vast, silent, and funereal hall devoid of furniture, where Mycogenian brothers stand alone in contemplation. The walls are lined with primitive two-dimensional television screens that display slowly shifting, narrated images of Aurora's idyllic landscapes and advanced technology, including humanoid robots. The pervasive atmosphere is one of profound mourning and loss. It is within this hall that Hari Seldon and Dors Venabili, disguised in white kirtles and sashes, infiltrate the building seeking evidence of robots, leading to their eventual discovery and confrontation with the Mycogenian leadership.
