Sisters is the term for adult female members of the Mycogenian Sector on Trantor. Sisters live under a deeply patriarchal and restrictive system. They are depilated, must wear formless grey kirtles, and are largely confined to domestic roles such as cooking, cleaning, and child-rearing. Their access to education and movement is severely limited, and they are forbidden from entering the Sacratorium except on rare, special occasions. They are referred to as the property of their husband or father and are expected to show deference to all men.
