Asimov

Tryma Acarnio is a character in Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.

About Tryma[]

Tryma Acarnio is the Chief Librarian of the Galactic Library on Trantor. Acarnio is a proud and status-conscious administrator.

He revoked Hari Seldon's special access privileges to the Library, deeming the Psychohistory Project and the Encyclopedia Galactica too controversial and unpopular with the citizenry. Seldon later returns to his office, accompanied by Wanda Seldon and Stettin Palver. The two young mentalics skillfully manipulate Acarnio's ego and ambition. They reframe the Encyclopedia not as a project predicting Imperial fall, but as a grand, celebratory tribute to Imperial civilization that would be housed within and bring immense prestige to his Library. Flattered by the vision of his legacy being tied to such a colossal undertaking, Acarnio completely reverses his position. He promises to convince the Library Board to reinstate Seldon's privileges and provide office space for the Encyclopedia Project, seeing it as a way to boost the Library's status and secure much-needed funding for its own collections.
