The Williamsburg Power Plant is an energy generation facility located within the Williamsburg Sector of New York City. This facility is a source of alpha-emitters, a type of radiation-producing device. One of these devices was stolen from the plant and later used to deactivate the police robot, R. Sammy, by randomizing its positronic brain. The theft placed Detective Elijah Baley under suspicion, as he had been documented passing through the plant around the time the item went missing.
